We got to eat!
First, good news, the freezer is getting cleaned out.. Still, there are items that we need on a regular basis. So we have gone to on-line ordering/store pickup. We order our groceries on-line and then pick a time that we will pick them up. We have now done it twice, and it is still a learning process.. First, we have it set so there "are no substitutes". We didn't have that option set the first time, and we got "substitutes" that became quite costly. Second, we are now going to set the time we want to pick up our order earlier in the day. On the second order, there were 4 items that were out of stock, because we picked up the order in the afternoon. I am going to set up our next order time at late morning on the day their sale coupons comes out. We will see how that works..
This is how the process works. We order the items on-line, place them in our "cart", input credit card information, set up a shopping time that the items will be picked by the market's (Cub Foods) personnel, they text us when they start picking items, text us when order is picked, we go to grocery store and I push the "I'm am here" button on my phone, they text us asking what sort of vehicle we have, and within 5 minutes the groceries will be loaded in our van. We never get out of the van and never come in close contact with anybody. The cost for the service is $1.99 per order. Items are temperature controlled. (hot items hot, cold items cold, frozen items frozen) because if something comes up so we can't pick the order up right away, we can pick up the order until to 9 PM on that day.
It is nice to know that we have a way to get our groceries without coming in contact with any people.
We also have a Plan B. There is a fairly new Kwik Trip convenience/gas station about 8 miles from our place. If we need milk or a loaf of bread, we can go there. I just sit outside the store and go in when there are very few people inside. It's very easy to keep a big distance and they have a sterilize station right inside the door, I sterilize my hands when I go in, get groceries, and sterilize my hands when I get back to the van.
Never did I expect there would be a time in my life that these steps would be necessary, but it's reality and we will live through it... Stay healthy. Jim
