Now This Is An Interesting Concept..

I recently read about this in Treehugger and thought what a cool way to stop the waste of food. I do know that in Rochester there is a system set up where they go around to certain restaurants on a daily basis and collect food in containers and then the food is taken to a church where it is repackaged and given to the needy.

Joe Powers, the owner of Canadian Honker, many years ago had catered a large gathering (I think over 900 meals.) and for some reason it was canceled. Well, Joe didn't want to have to throw away all this prepared food, so he made some fast contacts and the food was repackaged and given away. That's what started the program in Rochester. I'm not sure the program is now running because of the COVID-19 issue and the restaurants closed.

This program they are talking about in Treehugger would be on an individual basis. I'm sure there would be some "kinks" in the program, but it sure would be a way for people to get good food for a very reasonable price.
